Compare the four lines that actually decide the price: surface preparation, undercoat, the specific paint product and grade, and the number of coats. An oil-sealer undercoat is a real cost and it is the line most often quietly left out of a cheap quote. A quotation that does not itemise those four things is not comparable to one that does.

Primer or sealer plus two finish coats as standard, and the coat count is written on your quotation. If a quote only promises "a fresh coat of paint", ask, that can legitimately mean one thin pass over a dirty wall.

Low-VOC and VOC-free systems as standard, with anti-mould formulation where the humidity warrants it, bathrooms, kitchens, and any wall that has grown mould before.
